Is it safe to connect a gas cooker with bayonet fitting?
The easy-fit bayonet fittings make it so simple you could do it in less than a minute. But if it is a new gas cooker (or a second-hand one) the regulations say that it must have a gas safe engineer to connect it up. It is illegal to connect it yourself!
How do you fit a gas cooker with a bayonet fitting?
A bayonet fitting should be 750mm from the floor and facing downwards. Allowing a smooth loop with no strain on the gas hose from the cooker. Although this is not classed as “immediately dangerous” if a new cooker is installed it will need to be rectified.
